I have been debating on upgrading my BCD436HP to allow DMR. I know it is currently in beta testing. I haven't decided if it is worth it or not. Doesn't seem that there is too many DMR systems locally to monitor.

Anyone upgrade their 436 or 536 and their thoughts on how it is currently working with Maryland DMR systems?

I have updated my 435 to the beta firmware since I have numerous systems down here on the Lower Eastern Shore.

Curious - other than Choptank Electric and probably Teltronic (taxis and buses), what else are you hearing? I know PRMC and Salisbury U (maint., security) have DMR systems and there are a few in the Worcester/OC area (hotels, taxis, etc.).

Of what you are hearing on the 436, how if the reception/decode (for each)?

Worcester County Jail is Tier II DMR as is the Casino. Worcester County Public Schools will likely transition to Tier II DMR over the next many years on a school by school basis.

I've never heard anything from the jail but it may be another one of those "you have to be close by" to hear it. I have tried to monitor the casino but everything I heard was analog with no indication of any digital activity.

The jail has fairly good coverage out 12 to the Wicomico line and north almost to Berlin keeping in mind of course that it is designed as an in-building /on-campus system with the 800MHz county system used for off campus transports, etc.

I have honestly never attempted to program and monitor the casino.

I'm in Ocean Pines for a days and this unexpected rain has changes some plans.

Who knows the color codes for the Choptank Electric sites?
As far as I can tell the control channel for the Whaleysville site is currently 464.9625 with CC5.

But I'm also getting a DMR signal on 463.8875 CC2. No Net or Site IDs though, maybe because the signal isn't that great. Do the color codes match the site IDs?

Is this site 2 or the Artesian Water Co WQJV698 in Delaware?

No sign of activity at Ocean Downs.

Chip tank is listed in the RRDB. Another busy system is DelMarVa Radio and Teletronic but mostly taxi and other transportation. There are a few hotels too.. also on the database. And finally, PRN ham activity ... their repeater is in Ocean Pines.

Hi all,

I am moving 1 March 2018 to California/Lexington Park of St Mary's County. It is far smaller then Raleigh NC from which I will be leaving. Im seeking to buy a new Scanner perhaps a BCD436 or TX-1 (recommandations guys are fine) and seek to find out about DMR transmissions there.

My primary desire is tuning into FD/PD activity and now once again near a Navy Base maybe some aviation! Anything about the area for sharing? I see Casinos and business groups so far use DMR but what of Emergency services? What are the aplical laws for easdropping? Been a Scanner enthusist since they had Crystals lol.

You and I switched locations - I moved to SE NC last summer from the Baltimore area....

DMR in the St. Mary's County area is probably pretty well limited -- is there a reason you are focused on DMR?

There is a regional system called FleetTalk that is pretty active in the Baltimore/Washington area and has a site in St. Mary's - hard to say what you'll hear if anything.

As for public safety, several years ago, St. Mary's switched from an EDACS system to a P25 Phase 2 simulcast system (used as a Phase 1 system as far as I know)... the simulcast part is the primary concern - a truly tough system to monitor with a scanner... Add to it that law enforcement is full time encrypted...

The JNCR system should be pretty active.
