MSP High Band F-3 (155.19) has a confirmed PL of 173.8 for barrack-barrack communication and this gets use from time to time, but a number of websites over the years have suggested a 110.9 PL for mobile use of this freq (including the folks who broadcast the Allegany Co online scanner: http://207.255.201.33/ ). I cannot help but wonder if this is just an invalid assumption, since 110.9 is popular for MSP low band freqs and is used in many counties with 155.73. Has anyone ever copied activity on this freq w/ any tone other than 173.8?

Hi Doctordave,

I help Kasey, KK3L, run the Allegany county scanner web site, http://207.255.201.33/ I have monitored car to car traffic using 110.9 PL in the past, This chit chat is like their own private channel, talk about food, taking assignment at Sheetz's or picking up a package at Burger King is about the most exciting things I have monitored. Maybe this is is why they are not using the 173.8 tone here, just a guess. Next time I see the MSP radio man I will ask this question.

In that case, can we go ahead and add it to the database? It would probably fit the description "car-to-car" or something, but I'm sure listeners would benefit from having it in the database. I know I actually go to a lot of efforts to find these kinds of "private" channels.

A little off topic, but, it still deals with PL's. Does having the ability to input the PL tones increase your chance of receiving MSP (or any conventional freq. for that matter)? I can't use PL tones in my 95, and only hear Golden Ring MSP when I'm up on the top side of the beltway (usually around Harford Rd). Now, down in Howard County, I get Waterloo from MUCH further away. I was on 70 near 695 and heard MSP saying he was near the rest stop off 95! Oh yeah, I only have the 800MHz stubby as well (I know that doesn't help pull MSP in to well).

Thanks
Lance

It would be of some benefit only if there are multiple users on the same frequency; while it's not as common now, it wasn't too awful long ago that skip from California's CHIPs were coming in on 39 mhz - in fact, it caused the College Park barracks to shift in frequency.

Good to know that the 110.9 PL is valid.

Wmbio, the next time you see the MSP radio man, perhaps you might be able to get PL info for the STATE Team freq 159.405.... and determine if there are other VHF-High freqs we are as yet unaware of. Appreciate the input.

Wmbio -- How do you actually hear the scanner audio? I'm from Hagerstown and I'd love to listen to it, but I don't see any links to the live audio from the main page. Also, I looked at the frequency list and have this curiousity: Who is C3I on 460.550 (127.3 PL) ? Thanks

Gilligan,

You must use IE6 browser, listening to the page right now @ 9:30 pm. Give the scanner's black screen area time to load, may take 1-2 minutes depending on your DL speed

try this url, http://acmscanner.no-ip.org/

C3I is the combined criminal information task force in Allegany county, MSP, Sheriff's office, Cumberland City pd.

This is the raw frequency information in the scanners memory, PLEASE NOTE: NOT ALL CHANNELS ARE ACTIVE!

We have had server, scanner, and antenna trouble since July of 2005. At the moment we cannot remote program the server/scanner so Kasey has picked the channels he likes when he goes to the mountain top!

Well from the info I got the VHF portable they use for the mobile extenders (F1) has a TX PL of 173.8 and a RX PL of 110.9. The Direct on the portable (F2) for 155.7300 is 110.9 on TX and RX. I have gotten 173.8 on the 155.1900 also. They use that channel (F3) at the Weigh Station on Big Savage.
Does anyone know where they use the 151.4750 frequency for the vehicle repeater? I got a 127.3 PL on that channel and I have heard activity on that channel in Allegany County. The PL I got for the STATE team freq. of 159.4050 was 250.3.
In Allegany County I have heard "Assignment" traffic on 39.62 a Headquarters channel.

This is the type of info that should go to the database, for sure! Nice sleuthing.

I've never heard 151.475 ever being reported here in Central Md. - perhaps that freq is utilized only in the Western counties? How about the folks down in southern Md.?

39.62 has a completely different usage in the DC metro area - it's used as the PMARS translator for 866.3625 Very interesting stuff. 73s Mike

Mike,

Not heard anything on 151.475 in Cumberland, but will monitor now. MSP 39.620 is another confirmed chit chat channel as Whistler has indicated, they have that freq in all of the cars and I do not believe Barracks C Cumberland is wired for monitoring or dispatching on this freq. Far enough from HQ to just use as another secret channel.

I also edited my last post to include the current freq list in simple list format for the Allegany County scanner.

My thoughts exactly! This is very helpful, freqs and tones both.

Just a note for wmbio...460.5500 I don't think is C3I anymore. It is now the imput into the Dan's 1 repeater on the new Allegany County system and it has a PL of 136.5. The new assignment is in the Allegany County database. Maybe C3I is using it with that other tone but I haven't monitored that old PL since the new repeaters went online.

Also another note for those from Allegany County. MSP-LaVale just got licensed for VTAC and UTAC at the Barrack on 5/3/06. So that may give them something else to chit-chat on now.

On Wednesday 5/5 I believe I heard some MSP CV units using 155.1900 they were saying stuff like..."well here comes a HAZMAT you gonna get that one". Not sure if they use that when they are running mobile stations or not.

wmbio, may like to exchange info sometime...and the scanner site is very nice too.

Can someone verify my previous post info about the portables before it goes to the database. I hate to submit crappy info.

So Gilligan...as an Administrator does that info go in the MSP Maryland section or into the Allegany County database? I would prefer someone else confirming the findings before it is posted.

This has been one of the better threads I have been involved in for awhile.

Whistler,

460.55000 465.55000 WNJM820 RM 136.5 PL Fire/EMS/Law Enforcement - Dan's 1

There was someone running a radio check on this freq about a week ago with this PL. C3I does not use this any longer, but I have heard the Lake Gordon dam keeper on Monday mornings run a radio check with the 911 center.

151.475 with 127.3 PL is active w/ MSP JFK Highway....I last copied related mobile repeater activity over the last weekend. I've also heard troopers on this freq handling SHA road repair details in Balt Co.

We should update our RR database to include the MSP JFK Highway (barrack M) translator output freq of 151.04 with 173.8 tone - this re-broadcasts everything on 39.24...the signal is strong & can even be heard as far South as the beaches. SHA units will also be heard on 151.04, as they work w/ MSP to clear traffic issues.

I'm curious to see how soon the V-TACs are programmed into the MSP portables....a fellow RR subscriber reported (on another thread) hearing chit-chat, most likely NRP, on V-TAC 1 on the Eastern Shore this past week, during a maritime event. He didn't happen to note if a PL tone was in use.

Keeping with the RR format, the info should go under the MSP page, not Allegheny County, as submissions should remain within the agency regardless of what county it is in.

The VTAC and UTAC freqs are all laid out in the Wiki...

http://wiki.radioreference.com/index.php/Common_Public_Safety

With parades and special events coming up, if I had room in my handheld, it may be time to keep these freqs programmed in. If MSP LaVale got licensed, it's just possible other MSP barracks have, too. Might be worth checking. 73s Mike

I'm not entirely sure why MSP is getting a license for each barrack to use the V/UTAC freqs. There are now 18 of them with separate licenses but the MSP has been able to use those freqs at all barracks under their WPXX392 license.

And that has absolutely nothing to do with the topic of this thread. Sorry for the off topic yakking.
