I use LMR 400 coax on the Discone, and it is connected to the PRO 2055 scanner. The homemade 1/4 wave dipole is cut for aviation band and used on the BC 700A scanner. Last is an HDTV antenna someone gave me. I chopped off the UHF boom and took all the unnecessary pieces off it and made a nice vhf antenna, mounted this thing sideways and it works great as a scanner antenna. I get full quieting signals from police and fire depts from all towns around my town. I really couldn't get it up any higher because my ladder doesnt reach far enough. This afternoon I tried to raise the dipole but only managed to raise it about a foot! Cant get up high enough plus I dont want too much wind load on mast.
