• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

How does a pager be missing a serial number?

I found this here https://www.ebay.com/itm/MOTOROLA-M...HZ-5-CHANNEL-PAGER-A04QAC9JA2AN-/332381453549. Seems suspiciously cheap and its from hong kong. Are they fake? They are also missing serial numbers. How can a pager be missing serial numbers unless there was never one given to it in the first place. I also found this (https://www.ebay.com/itm/Minitor-VI-Pager-5-Channel-406MHz-430MHz-Pager/253253030042) and it has the same weird tag on the back that the missing serial ones from hong kong have. I am wondering if that guy bought one of the hong kong ones and is flipping it at 4x the price he paid to make a profit. Either way back to my main question, how can a pager be "missing" something like a serial number?

Both those listings indicate the pagers have "new" or "replacement" housings. I would guess replacement housings would not have a serial number on them.... not knowing which pager they would eventually be installed on.

As far as being legitimate, maybe, maybe not.... see what kind of feedback develops.

Most likely like the xts and ht line, refurbs, etc. Some rehoused auction surplus units, others put together, re housed, or damahe'd units from factory that didby pass qc, water or smome damage. As for a knock off all out I would imagine mother /\/\ would eventually crack the from scratch knock offs off.

I've never seen a minitor VI so shiny. I wouldn't be surprised if it was fake, but it could be just rehoused, in an aftermarket housing. It's only $50, so I mean you could take the gamble, and look and see.

That is the exact same thought I had. It looks like super cheap plastic. I decided to go with another seller that I know for sure is the real deal. Also 4x the price though. Then again it includes clip, battery and charger which bought separately is almost $80
