• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Anyone happen to know if the XTS3000, with the model number of H09UCF9PW7BN is exclusively 800mhz, or does that model number exist for UHF and VHF as well?

Thanks.

The "U" indicates this would be an 800MHz model.

Thanks, that is what I thought. Radio is being sold with a UHF antenna and the place selling the radio could tell me nothing other than they acquired the lot of radios, with UHF antennas, and knew nothing else about the radios.

I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something and it was an 800

There certainly are people that honestly think it's the antenna that decides what frequency the radio works on. There are those that would tell you that putting a VHF antenna on their 800MHz radio will work. Especially if they want your money.

Anybody selling radio equipment with zero understanding about what it is would be a big red flag. Yeah, you can get lucky (look up CB Radio on e-Bay and just see some of the stuff listed), but sometimes you get hosed.

The model matched my two current 800mhz XTS3000 radios, but not that of my UHF XTS3000 or VHF XTS 3000 ... so I was just making sure I wasn't missing something.

When a wholesaler buys a batch of radios removed from service, as you know, they often have no idea what they have. They just went to the auction and bought what the City was selling. I do find it odd that the antennas all have Motorola UHF-GPS antennas on them though.

Oh well, for the price, I guess I'll have another 800 XTS3000, which is good since one of my current ones is not 9600baud capable making it quiet limiting (yea, I know. I can have it reflashed)
