• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I have googled and search this forum till my eyes are dry.

1.) I have a CDM 1250 that I bought used knowing that the seller told me there was no speaker audio. Besides RX/speaker audio it works and transmits fine. Seller stated it was originally used as a paging radio and he used it for a APRS transmitter. I paid $40 for it hoping that it was just a setting in CPS cause I had another CDM that had no audio until I changed the RX from flat audio to filtered audio... well I have now tried changing that and every setting in CPS with no luck, the radio also has a external desk speaker cradle with proper accy plug and no audio out of it either (it does work when I put another CDM radio on it). I have also changed ribbion cables and internal speaker....still no luck. Any Suggestions?

2.) I have a CDM 1550 that will not power on by itself, it was set for ignition sense but I was able to take a heat gun to the board of it and after getting it hot (in attempt to reflow it) I was able to power it on, BUT it would only stay on for about 30 seconds then become unresponsive to keypad, etc. power off and won't come back on, heat it up again and was able to read the radio with CPS, turned off ign sense in CPS, heated it back up long enough to put the changed programming into radio. Any suggestions of fixing this one?

3.) If the 1550 can't be fix, would it be possible to transplant the component(s) for speaker audio from the 1550 to the 1250 and what would the component(s) look like? I do have the detailed service manual downloaded, but I get lost reading those. Thanks.
