Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Your problem is that the model number you list is not an 'e' model. It's an older standard model, if I'm not mistaken.

AAM28TRN9KA1AN 450-512 MHz, 1-40 Watts, 1000 Channels

If this is the one that was recently up on eBay, it was mis-listed. I wrote the seller, but never heard back, and never bothered looking if the listing was corrected.

Unfortunately, I only have a VHF and 430-470 bandsplit codeplug for that radio, which I don't belive will work. Will a hex edited one work? Hmmmmm...I don't know.

Why not just do a "recovery"? Wipes the radio and installs new firmware. TT

Ummm...this! Besides, if the radio is password protected, you usually can't even write a code plug to it.

Can you explain what steps you took and any error messages you received? Trying to clone or write over the top of a password protected radio will not work. These are not Kenwood or Waris series radios. No password, no workie. The only way around it is to perform a recovery, send it to the depot, or pay for the radio unlock EID from mother Moto. The recovery is the easiest, but requires you to have the same or newer firmware version installed into the CPS of the radio you are trying to recover. Do you have the firmware installed? TT
