• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Our department has put into service the APX8000 mobile radios. I just updated the firmware and loaded our PD encryption. All the radios work perfect except one. When I build the scan list the radio traffic does not come through on any of the channels when the radio is scanning except the one its tuned to. The one thing I noticed that is different with this radio is that the Z showing it is scanning has a small period next to it that blinks. None of my other radios have that. It looks like Z. and the period blinks. Everything else is programed the same on all the other radios that work just fine.

Any ideas?

from the user guide.
Blinking dot = Detects activity on the Priority-One Channel
during scan.
Steady dot = Detects activity on the Priority-Two Channel
during scan

Check to see if the mic hanger is grounded. I am betting that the HUB, Hang up box suspends scan check box is checked in CPS. Try grounding the hanger or unchecking the box.

Make sure you have the scanlists selected in the personalities and make sure your priorities are set properly (selected is what I tend to leave the primary so it'll consider the selected channel the priority).

Thanks

Thanks for the responses. I will have to check the grounding on the hand mic. I know the priority and scan list items are good to go. Its strange that all my other radios work fine except this one. Thanks again!

I’d vote for the mic hanger/hub not grounded. Just had this exact problem and verified by touching the mic hub to the B post door pin. I prefer off hook scan anyway so I just reprogrammed it.
