yup
They use the same air traffic control freqs as regular aircraft normally use. Otherwise, you might try hunting thru the federal bands to see if there is any action. Peter sz

Thank you. I was able to hear the AIRFORCE ONE call sign on the regular departure frequency, although I was never able to obtain a visual.

Does anyone know if they take off at a lower angle then regular commercial flights.

The reason I ask is that I am able to get a visual on regular commercial flights as they rise up over the casinos in what appears to be approximately a 45 degree upward flight path all the time, however I was never able to see AIRFORCE ONE from either the east or west takeoff runway.

It departed runway 07 left because it was loaded with fuel and it was hot outside. Takeoff limits etc.

The do try to gain altitude as quickly as possible due to ground threats.

It was interesting that they decided to have a combat air patrol up during his visit, and there was certainly some interesting activity this morning due to not one, but two TFR violations occurring in a short timespan. I saw the second plane & its escort as they approached Mesquite Airport. Too bad I didn't have time to divert & see how the pilot was greeted on the ground by a shocked & excited Mesquite PD eager to assist with a national security case! :)
