new BCD536. is it really that easy to enter zip to get all of the LVPD frequencies and includes the trunked radio system? I'm thinking not. any suggestions? possibly someone would like to share their download version of Sentinel, area code is 89123

You enter your zip & pick what services you want & don't want & the scanner will do the rest. You can get someone else's files but there is no guarantee it will listen to what you want. I suggest you do it yourself, picking services would be the "hardest" part.

Yes it is, however...

It can get a little complicated, sorta quickly.

When you enter your zipcode it will load or "program" almost everything that is licensed in that area. And I'm guessing there is a lot of stuff going on in that area. That means you will have to go through your scanner and "un-program" stuff you don't want/care to listen to because it will get bogged down and you will miss a lot of what you do want. And if there are federal/national/other statewide things you do want to hear you will probably have to go in and select those separately.

And that's just the frequency part! There are all kinds of other things you can do with it but it sounds like you're new to this so it's gonna take some time and patience figuring all of this out.

Also, I'm not from there so I can't help you with what to listen to. ;)

Enjoy your new 536HP. I live in Los Angeles but have had my 436HP and 536HP out there with me twice while staying at the Monte Carlo. The x36HPs worked quite well just with portable antennas on the scanners on the 19th floor. The 436HP was also excellent outside at the Outlet malls while wife was shopping.
You can go to USA database in Sentinel, pick Nevada, then Clark County. You can choose from Nationwide, Statewide, and County Systems. You will find Clark (conventional), McCarran (Conventional), and LVMPD under the County systems. You can right click and save them to a favorites list. That's should be a good start. I have all the casinos in my list. Quite interesting listening.
Eventually, as others said, you have to pick and choose what you want. The 536HP and Sentinel have a learning curve, but you probably have the best scanner available for your area. Good luck and enjoy. PM (private e-mail me) if you have any questions.

That is true, so don't update your database at this time if you want to scan SNACC. and yes, they are working on it.
