METRO Radio Upgrade?

Probably nothing interesting, but over night I head a couple of dispatchers saying they were having problems hearing the officers due to a radio upgrade that was being tested. Anyone know what they are talking about?

Is LVMPD testing on the opensky system?

Open Sky

If it was being tested locally you would never know what they were saying as the protocol used by it is not currently monitorable by scanners.

Some people are very concerned about interoperability of local agencies. If Metro really cared it would have joined the SNACC system but they want total control over their system and really don't care about spending too much of our taxpayers dollars. Open Sky has not worked very well in other states. Just my thoughts.

For the last couple of days, Southwest command was using tac1 instead of thier normal channel.
