The city is building out a new 700/800 trunked radio system and has already been granted licenses. They are in the process of identifying tower sites according to documents submitted to FCC. According to the same documents they intend on sharing the system and have interest from several surrounding municipalities who want to join in.

interesting that 1 of the sites for this newark city system is located in West Orange, on a 400 foot tower, on top of the 600 foot Mountain...EAGLE ROCK RESERVATION....1000 feet above sea level.. that should give Newark quite a large signal area...

Wow, 14 frequencies on the system. You would have to think it would be more than just the police dept. eventually moving over to this new system.

One would think, with the fd and remcs already on njics, that the pd would follow suit ? .

Assuming Newark FD stays on the NJICS once Newark's TRS is completed............

That license was actually approved a while ago then dropped, revised, and regranted like twice. But last I heard they hadn't even gotten out of bids and paperwork yet. That was a while ago though admittedly.

They are still on a slow-growth plan - infrastructure not until mid-2020 & final acceptance not until later in 2021.
