Thanks for the update. We got a few kenwoods in mainly for our neighboring area in southwest for interop with a few who want to go to NXDN down road. Seems the cheaper trend for some smaller angencies not going p25 wanting to get out of analog within the state.

I looked up the approximate population of Curry County and its just over 50,000. It will be interesting to see how this goes and if other smaller counties will do similar setups.

It would not surprise me if others followed DMR, or NXDN mainly.

Since New Mexico has not established a actual book on communications to guide agencies or require many do not put monies or have a grant writer to acquire monies to get it for expensive gear.

Most will find the cheapest option with what is needed and go from there. Kenwood seems to be the alternative to Motorola within the state mainly.

While p25 kenwoods exist the cheaper ones default with NXDN that is preferred. So I see it more happening with the smaller counties or ones who go for mid to lower tier kenwoods who wish to be digital.
