Disable PTT

Hey everyone. Just bought a baofeng uv5r to just do the simple things of listening to my local PD.

I do notice it has PTT and understand you also have to take a class and get certified to utilize this function which I am not really interested.

So question, any way to disable PTT so that my kid or I don't accidentally hit this side button?

What about the call button as well to disable..

Looks like its possible if you use the CHIRP software. Take a look at this:

If you are using a later version of CHIRP, set the Offset to "off".

If you use the Baofeng software you can just set the TX frequency to 000.0000

I do not believe anyone has figured out how to turn off the TX capability from the keypad.
