Scanning while repeater mode

Hi,
Im trying to learn the transceiver modes and wonder if there is an option or kind of feature that supports scanning band while the device is set to repeater mode?
im interested of working at repeater mode and at the same time keep on scanning particular band of frequencies.

Of Course,
The Model is ICOM ID-5100.
It looks like the moment you set the device to repeater mode there is no option to set it to another mode(meanwhile,parallel).
