I got my PRO-649 scanner a couple weeks ago. I want to receive satellites with it, but I don't want to deal with mounting an antenna. What is a preamplifier? Is a discone good for getting satellites? I want an antenna that is small enough to be brought indoors, but large enough to get a signal from weather satellites, and maybe AO-7 and a couple other dead satellites that are still transmitting, like NOAA-9. Any good antennas to use in my case? I'm 13 by the way and I have an interest in getting signals and APT images from satellites.
