Whistler 1040

Purchased my husband a Whistler 1040 for Christmas. We have programmed it with the information imported here. We get some activity but the scanner is quiet for most of the time. We are in the Dayton Ohio area. Anyone local that can help me out?

you might get limited reception using the rubber duckie antenna..you might want to consider an outdoor antenna like a discone with good low loss coax like lmr400

Did you program the MARCS trunked system? That is where most public safety traffic is in Ohio.
