WS1065 programmed, but not really picking up anything

I bought a WS1056 for my grandma about 2 weeks ago. We might pick up something on a channel once a day maybe twice. We hear the pager tests everyday at 1800 just fine, but everything else is spotty. I'm not sure if there's a setting in the software that I'm missing or what; any thoughts?

There are far too many questions here that need answers - first off, where is your grandmother? (county/state is fine).

What system are you trying to hear? Go up to the top left, select DATABASES, then FREQUENCY DATABASE, then use the various pulldowns and maps to get to what you want.

How did you program it? By hand or using software? Which package (if you used software)?

The object oriented scanners - of which the 1065 is one - isn't quite a plug and play like old scanners were. There are any number of possibilities here that might be causing issues, and even being too far away from what you are trying to hear is a definite possibility.
