Albany County to Handle Watervliet and Cohoes 911

I saw this today and I found it interesting: Albany County to handle 911 calls for Watervliet, Cohoes

Anyone have any idea if they'll be dispatching these departments on Albany County Fire Control, or the old frequencies in place right now? It would be interesting to hear "Albany County Fire Control to all Cohoes Fire monitors..."

This is actually old news. Watervliet & Cohoes Police dispatch has been done by the Sheriffs for about a month now, Cohoes & Watervliet Fire for about the last two weeks. The only significant change are that Cohoes Fire units are no longer "Cohoes Engine X" as they now use their County identifiers (7-xx). All communications are taking place on the respective Department's frequencies. Although as of Tuesday Watervliet Fire Ch. 2 is now being used as a conventional paging channel (not MotoTrbo).

It is my understanding that the Sheriffs will absorb Green Island, Coeymans and eventually Bethlehem in the coming months (or years).

Hmm, wasn't aware. Thanks for the info. This also means that the freqs. won't change? Only difference is the 911 call center?

Frequencies are staying the same. The only things changing is 911 is county and apparatus unit numbers.
