I often hear base 1, base 3 etc on NYCOMCO .

How many bases are there and is there a list of bases ?

Question 2:

On the walker mountain site I am hearing the following talk groups.

09-034
03-037

Can anyone ID them ?

09-034 sounds like a towing company.

Site is on the edge of my receiving capabilities.

What talkgroups are you hearing base 3 on? If its 03-061 then its City of Beacon Police. Base 3 is what they call Headquarters, and from what I understand the base numbers came from the days when varies police agencies shard a common frequency.

In Orange County:

Base 1 - City of Newburgh
There is no Base 2, Walden IDs as "956"
Base 3 - Town of Newburgh
Base 4 - Town of Cornwall
Base 5 - Town of New Windsor
Base 6 - Village of Washingtonville
Base 7 - Town of Montgomery
No Base 8
Base 9 - Village of Highland Falls

Others ID as "Headquarters" such as Woodbury, some will use the first two digits of the car number series followed by a zero such as Village of Monroe "450", Town of Blooming Grove "630" etc. Some that don't have their own dispatch will still use the first two digits of the car number followed by zero for their base as well...Town of Chester "640", Village of Chester "310." etc. The "956" for Walden comes from the callsign, same with "404" for Wallkill, etc.

In Dutchess County:
Base 3 is City of Beacon
Base 6 is Town of Fishkill
