A change that would force phase 2 and eliminate phase 1 operations. I wasn't referring to just Albany Co. but the 7/800 bands in general. Some people will put the phase 2 emission mask on since it is a slightly larger mask than a phase one. Since it is a larger emission, it technically would have to be re-coordinated. It may be something the RPC is doing to lighten their workload. For clarity, just because the emissions are on the license doesn't mean the basestations and subscriber radios are capable. There are plenty of 7/800 channels available in the capital region. It would have to be a sales job to add phase 2 and not a technical decision.

If you do a NY-wide search in RR of 156.0 and 156.135, it looks like FCC has allocated those frequencies to several other agencies as well. Oswego county schools is running DMR on 156.0.

The closest maritime VHF channels are 156.05 and 156.175.

Any rumors on when this system will become active? I have heard the radio techs in the past, but nothing lately. I assumed that some of the standard analog traffic from Law Enforcement (154.430) and Fire/EMS (154.370) would have been simulcast to the new P25 system by now. Does anyone have a schedule of when the transition to the new system will occur?

It is delayed due to things beyond Motorola's control. Because of where my information came from, I would prefer not to release the exact situation which has stalled the implementation. There is no current timeline for a go-live. If your CC decoder can read the status information, the system spends considerable time in site-trunking mode.

FCC issues perhaps? The license has an amendment. Appears 4 of the locations have modifications for Site Elevation, height, etc.

That's not it. Those filings are just corrections from the preliminary filings to the system as-built. If the agency and consultants are doing things right, you will see those come through. You will notice most of the amendments are minor location corrections and a reduction in height and power. When multi-site simulcast systems are designed the power and TX antenna height are balanced to achieve the least amount of disruptive overlap. Since frequencies are generally at a premium the licensing and coordination takes place before the final system engineering. Also, sometimes sites don't work out for a multitude of reasons. You might be surprised how much a difference of 500 lateral feet can make with a site sometimes.

So is no news bad news for the new county P25 system? My attempt to ask the a senior official for the Oneida County Department of Emergency Services resulted in a pleasant letter with little details. This person offered a guesstimate of the first quarter in the new year for the cutover plan from the vendor. I can appreciate withholding some off the finer details, but a simple schedule would help this taxpayer feel better about how my dollars are being spent.

Get the loggers ready... Expect movement after the first of the year.

I ran a quick test with someone the other day and his scanner and mine didn't catch the testing talkgroup in use, FD8E, though I did see it come through on SDRTRUNK. Has anyone heard any conversations on the system? What scanner are you using?

Could you provide some context? Are these logged talkgoups or something you have actually heard on your scanner? I have a theory that the 65000 seriers talkgroups aren't recognized by scanners. The TRX1 and and the 325 Don't seem to like these talkgroups.

Also FWIW, I wouldn't program the County Fire talkgroup...That was a testing talkgroup only. We should be getting the real ones next week.

Assuming business as usual, will these new Talk Groups get added to the Radio Reference Master Database next week? Since Monday is a holiday, maybe Tuesday?

I suspect that those are temporary talkgroups for testing purposes, unless the Oneida County system is going to be merged into something regional and all of the TGIDs have to be that high.
