It's a VHF P25 Phase 2 Motorola Linear Simulcast system for the cities and New Hartford. The remainder of the County will be upgraded to Analog Simulcast.

Not 100% sure what Rome's plans are with the NXDN other than Public Safety shifting off. This transition also likely spells the end for Utica's EDACS. I would reasonably expect JPJ to shift their handful of remaining business customers to something else and decommission the system.

Thanks

So, I guess the TRX-1 would be a safe bet. Appreciate your reply. Are you aware of when it should commissioned ?

From what ive been told, JPJ will keep EDACS running for their Business Subscribers

They are saying this fall. The system has been staged and they are doing some of the mobile installs. I would expect to see the excavators going in Rome and New Hartford for the tower sites this spring.

I just noticed that CNYICC is advertising a VHF TDMA frequency band -- not sure if it's been that way all along, or if this is a recent change.

Code:

Why are NTIA frequencies being broadcast in a civilian trunked band plan?

Why are NTIA frequencies being broadcast in a civilian trunked band plan?

Each P25 frequency band describes a range of 4096 possible channels that start at the base frequency and include every channel/frequency that is an increment of the spacing/step size. While the band may start in an NTIA allocated frequency range and span across multiple other allocation bands, the actual subset of channels from the frequency band used by the system still has to match the frequencies allocated for the system.

4096 channels with a spacing of 5000 Hz means that the #6 VHF TDMA frequency band spans a frequency range of 149.290 - 169.770 MHz -- a range that covers quite a few more allocations than just NTIA's.

The tables broadcast by the NYSEG VHF P25 system (example below) have even more of these "odd" looking base frequencies (no, Dave, NYSEG does not broadcast on "FAA" frequencies). One of the reasons for the proliferation of these tables in this case is the lack of standard offset spacing in VHF regarding TX frequencies used by base versus mobile stations, whereas for UHF and 7/800 only one table entry is needed thanks to the standard offset,..

Max

Code:
tbl-id: 0 frequency: 851.006250 step 0.006250 offset -45.000000
tbl-id: 1 frequency: 762.006250 step 0.006250 offset 30.000000
tbl-id: 2 frequency: 136.000000 step 0.010000 offset 4.780000
tbl-id: 3 frequency: 142.422500 step 0.005000 offset 5.260000
tbl-id: 4 frequency: 143.430000 step 0.005000 offset 6.265000
tbl-id: 5 frequency: 147.012500 step 0.002500 offset 6.460000
tbl-id: 6 frequency: 136.000000 step 0.010000 offset 6.550000
tbl-id: 7 frequency: 136.000000 step 0.012500 offset 6.000000

When they staged the Oneida County Trunked system in Chicago they had it connected to the master site in Onondaga which means they would have already had to provision the master site tables to accommodate the VHF.

Did you end up purchasing the TRX-1 scanner? The latest on the system upgrade for the city of Rome is described in the May 10, 2017 Common Council agenda. A new 195 foot tower will be located just off Erie Boulevard on South Charles Street. Additionally, new mobile, portable, and control station radios will be purchased for both the Fire Department and the Police Department. Based on this information, it appears that Rome will drop the NXDN system in favor of this new P25 system.
