I posted this last night in the new users forum :

I have owned at least one scanner for years.
I have never used the trunking feature on my scanner.
I have 2 trunking scanners.
A RadioShack Pro90 and a Pro94.
I know they aren't the newest scanners around, but it's what I got.
I know how to program them, but I was wondering about programming trunked freqs.
My first question is, are my scanners too old for my area? I live in Vance County NC.
Vance County, North Carolina (NC) Scanner Frequencies and Radio Frequency Reference
It shows the area has a VIPER setup.
Also, I want to be able to listen to the NCHP, but I am not sure where to find their information.
Any help would be appreciated!!
Thanks,
Adrian

I got one response about the viper freqs, and that if it has an A beside it, I can hear it.
Will my scanners be able to follow the conversations?
I want to be able to hear all of the LEs around here and the NCSHP.

Also, how do you guys with older scanners store/save/organize frequencies?
I am putting together a spreadsheet with all of the old frequencies that I had programmed.
I want to put a lot of different things in the scanner.

Thanks for any and all help,
Adrian

First let me say welcome to RR.com.
The PRO-94 will monitor NCSHP VIPER for the time being. Shortly everything VIPER that is not already Digital will be swithching over to 9600 Baud Digital from 3600 Baud Digital and then eventually to true P25. I have not been to Vance County in a while, so I do not know if they are running on the VIPER System yet. I would program in the VHF Frequencies and maybe they are running simulcast on Sheriffs Dispatch, you might get lucky.
If you need any help programming the scanner shoot me an email or PM.
