from 20 Sept 2010 Board of Commissioners' meeting:

Sheriff’s Office – $65,884 – Car-to-Car grant - To appropriate the funding for Haywood County Law Enforcement to access the CJIS / NCIC network. This project will place mobile data terminals in patrol vehicles. This is a multi-agency grant with the following agencies participating: Haywood County, Towns of
Maggie Valley, Canton and Clyde.

Could this be the possible use for the VHF pair in the RR database on which there seems to be no traffic?

Which pair are you talking about?

Whoops! I was thjinking about WQAP353 for 155.6775 which is a Town of Waynesville license, not Haywood County. Talk about jumping to conclusions; sorry, folks.

The MDTs are on 800Mhz frequencies licensed to the state usually in the 850's range as opposed to 860's for VIPER. The license date will be older than VIPER as the MDT' system was built several years ago.
