Forsyth County VIPER

Maybe someone can please steer me in the right direction. I noticed that a few Forsyth County Talkgroups were added to Viper this week. I have not heard anything from any of these talkgroups. I am using Booth Mtn. as the control on one scanner and Sauratown Mtn. on the other.

I also monitor the NCSHP but have heard little action from either scanner. When I do the signal is very strong and clear. I have Troop E, District 4 talkgroups added plus VHF hi-low bands as well. Salisbury Dispatch comes in loud and strong but not much traffic or maybe I am expecting too much. I would think that traffic would be busy.

So thanks on advance and I would appreciate any comments and suggestions also "IF" I have all the proper freqs programed. Thanks in advance.

To answer your question all 100 counties were issued these five types of talk groups when VIPER started for interoperability. Of course some agencies decided to utilize VIPER as they primary means of communication.
Forsyth County is still utilizing its own TRS System, along with Winston Salem. Hope this helps.

You are not likely to hear any traffic on those Forsyth County VIPER Talkgroups. Winston-Salem/Forsyth County uses their own 800MHz Digital Trunking system.

Like Greg stated above, those VIPER talkgroups are for interop and mutual-aid with other agencies. There are very few radios in the field in Forsyth County that even have those talkgroups programmed in. Most of the W-S/FC system radios do not even have these talkgroups programmed in.

I have asked Greg to put a link to the W-S/FC system above those VIPER talkgroups so people can be directed to where they will hear the action.

Ok and I understand now.

I have 3 trunking scanners and the last one was which I programmed the new Viper Talkgroups. Since Forsyth has the 800 system, I was surprised to see it listed on Viper but thanks you have cleared the issue.
