I am new to scanners, I was wondering what type of scanner do I need to listen to Troop A for NCHP for instance triple trunk, or dual trunk? And what is the difference between them?

And what is there Freqs. they operate on?

If they're using VIPER you'll need a (triple) trunking scanner. If they're using digital talkgroups on VIPER than you'll need a digital trunking scanner ($$$). The bare minimum is an analog scanner capable of receiving their VHF-lowband frequencies although you won't be able to hear the car-to-dispatch traffic unless you're close and have a good antenna. Have fun.
