The radio isn't legal to transmit on FRS and a license is needed for GMRS. If he just wants to "listen," it would be easier with a FRS/GMRS radio.

Thanks to all who responded to my tread I love to listen to my baofeng radio and someday I'm going to get the license to operate it and thanks for letting me know about the regular walkie talkies that's what we use at my job just wish there was a way to listen to Duke energy and Pike electric

To the folks who gave me the info about the Motorola talk about I've found frequencies that I can hear them but they can't hear me if my boss would get a baofeng uv5r handheld radio then he would hear how our employees talk on there's and they say be careful when talking and watch what we say

"if my boss would get a baofeng uv5r handheld radio then he would hear how our employees talk on there's"

Do you mean, your employees are using their own BaoFeng radios to chat with each other? Or your employees are using something else (the Talkabouts?) and you think your boss would need a BaoFeng to hear them?

If you are concerned, why not just ask your boss if he wants to listen to YOUR radio? He doesn't need to buy one. And he may not care about it.

Talk abouts

No our employees use the talk abouts on the job and they can say certain words that I can not repeat and we were told to be careful and professional and watch what we say but they don't care but that's their souls
I had to get my baofeng the other day cause I didn't have an extra just so I could hear what's going on I heard them but they didn't hear me all my boss wants to hear is sending traffic if it's clear and the last vehicle

Since the FCC no longer bans the "seven dirty words" (George Carlin did the classic routine about that, RIP George) it might be pointless.

Unless someone hears, complains, and then the good news is your boss will have grounds to terminate somebody. Meanwhile, if he doesn't want to listen, he's the boss. You'll have to get rid of him and take over if you want to do something about the language.
