For those monitoring Baptist Aircare you may have noticed some changes to RIDs. Baptist Aircare recently changed providers from Air Methods to Metro Aviation. When this happened, 4 new helicopters were purchased for Aircare (1 for each base and 1 spare). Aircare Dispatch was moved from Colorado (Air Methods Dispatch Center) back to Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem, utilizing the existing VIPER talkgroups and UHF frequency.
Air Methods still operates a Helicopter from Blue Ridge Airport in Martinsville, VA as well as Aircare. The Air Methods Helo operates as Air Life 1 and can be heard on VIPER talkgroup 51534 (which will be submitted to the database). The article below explains the issue further:
