Hello,

I want to test a cell (mobile) booster to see if it is working properly. I have a new RF reader. I guess that I need to set the frequency (Hz) on the RF reader and measure the detected power ratio (dBm) at that frequency; the stronger the power ratio the stronger the reception for the cell phone? Is this correct?

Also, are these the correct frequencies I should be measuring at?:

800MHz (Band 20)
900MHz (Band 8)
1800MHz (Band 3)
2100MHz (Band 1)
2600MHz (Band 7)

Thank you in advance

To test it properly you need a spectrum analyser and an attenuator. A frequency counter will respond only to a strong signal and in presence of several carriers will read erratically. The power output in dBm should be observed on a spectrum analyser. Each carrier requires a portion of the power. For example, a 5 watt amplifier can allocate only 500 milli watts to each of 10 carriers being amplified. A multi band Booster is even more complex. The Booster should have instructions for proper testing.
