I was wondering what I could use to detect frequencies of an object I can move around 100Ghz and also in the range of 40-60Ghz (perhaps just this range for now). I was told about a Tektronix 492 with waveguide mixers, but I was also told of a separate concept involving a horn antenna, detector diode, and a log amp. I prefer something like the latter because it's a lot more manageable but I have no idea where to start as in for building that or what products to choose for a moderate budget (a few thousand). All I need is to prove that signals are emitting from the source, not actually analyze them. Thanks.
