Police on MURS?

The past couple days, I've been hearing what sounds like a police department on 151.820 (156.7 PL). (I'm in Licking County) The reason I'm pretty sure it's a PD is that they use BSSA codes and I heard the dispatcher doing several checks on LEADS. Is someone just rebroadcasting another PD (it's not a rebroadcast of any county PD's as far as I can tell) or is there someplace using MURS?

Yes, you are hearing the Fairfield County Sheriff on MURS. Listen to 453.825 at the same time to confirm this. I am also hearing police traffic on another MURS frequency (154.570). As long as they don't exceed the two watt power limit it is perfectly legal and they don't have to ID either. What they are doing is stupid, I could easily buy a radio that will transmit on MURS, find the PL or DPL and broadcast over their UHF repeater and be heard all over Fairfield County. Whoever did this doesn't know what the hell they are doing. They are using MURS to link to their repeater.
