All;

We've had a couple of reports of talkgroups that do not seem to be valid, one currently in the database and the other a new submission.

37394 - reported as Ohio National Guard @ Ravenna Army Arsenal
37396 - Wood County Comm Center (87-PSAP)

37394 is not a valid talkgroup (37394 / 16 = 2337.125) unless there was an emergency alarm on 37392, which is unlikely from the Ohio National Guard. Nor is 37396 unless there was an emergency patch on 37392 (37396 / 16 = 2337.25). Either way both would be associated to talkgroup 37392.

However, both of these numbers fall within the range of ID numbers MARCS has been issuing to new radios over the last several months, which leads to speculation that these could perhaps have been active radio IDs being displayed. This is especially likely since the type of activity monitored is so very different between these two numbers (ONG in Ravenna on one, Wood County Comm Center on the other).

I'd like to request everyone monitor TG 37392 to see if any activity pops up so we can try to confirm what this might be.

Thanks,

Hello Tom,

The Wood County PSAP talk group that made it to the DB is incorrect. The talk group ID should be 37296. So that fix for Wood County will make a little more sense. I have trunker and ID tracker logs to confirm with Wood County PSAP talk group. Not sure about the other one.

Somebody must be using a Uniden and reporting those. Earlier this year when I was monitoring 6F0F, I had a lot of activity on 37392 - quite a bit of it with various status bits. But I still knew it was 37392.

Ex:

9212 I 310 Affiliation I A240 -> G 9212
A240 I 308
9212 I 310 Affiliation I A240 -> G 9212

That's radio ID 41536 (A240) on 37392 [+2 Emergency Status bit] (37394 = 9212)

I seen a lot of that during the time I was monitoring, specifically with that talkgroup and its participants. Some of the radio IDs involved were: 41515, 41517, 41520, 41535, 41536, 41564.

So, despite it being unlikely, it was happening - I have limited time right now or I can get more detailed logs (some probably showing other status bits as well for that talkgroup)

I'm using UT (and not Trunk88 or some other trunker). RID A240 (41536) affiliated with or claimed affiliation with TG 37394 (hex 9212) on 21 occasions on this particular day. That same day, that radio ID and many others were communicating on 37392. None of the radio IDs show an entry in the log like the radio ID 41536 did.

So I'm pretty sure that somebody was using a Uniden with the status bit enabled and probably saw somebody on TG 37392 hit the emergency button a few times.

And, on a different day (2-7-09), on multiple occasions:

9212 I 310 Affiliation I 6E2B -> G 9212
9212 I 310 Affiliation I A23F -> G 9212

A23F = RID 41535
6E2B = RID 28203

Ok, from review Trunker logs, I had two radios 13168 and 14816 both affiliating with talk group 37392 at a handful of times during 2008. Both those two radios were also affiliated with numerous known Ohio National Guard talk groups.

Looks like 37392 is ONG. And correction to 37292 for Wood County PSAP.

OK, that answers those questions.

It's possible that they could be using a solution like Site Lens or similar to receive emergency banners but it's not very likely; a more likely possibility (which happens around here all the time) is that the emergency banner button was left active when the radio was programmed even though they don't use it.
