Ok, just getting started and I'm looking for my 3 local small towns PD's. I have the MARCS 155.65000 in my scanner. But the PD's of Garrettsville,Hiram,And Mantua dont seem to be using that freq. So i was wondering If anyone here might know what freqs theses small towns are using for there check in's and call outs.

155.655 is not a MARCS frequency. Not sure what you mean. Maybe MARCS AND 155.655??? It looks like 155.655 is not a repeater but a simplex frquency with the bases and mobiles all on that freq. You might not hear everything if you are not close. Which scanner do you have and what are you using for antenna. I'm in Summit but listen to Streetsboro and Aurora. Occasionally I unlock some of the other Portage freqs. if I want to hear something going on but normally not.

Click on the tab on the top of this page labeled "DATABASES" then select Ohio, then Portage County. It will give you a complete list of the frequencies in Portage County (police, fire, etc.).
Most all of the county is on analog so you should be able to receive plenty of action on your scanner.

But the RRDB lists them there. I just said they are simplex and not a repeater system so maybe that is a factor. Or maybe they are not on 155.655 anymore. I don't know. The two Portage towns I monitor have their own repeater. Someone in Portage County who monitors should know. I do not.

I can suggest that you try a couple of things.

I see the database shows PL tone 131.8. If you have that programmed, I would turn off the PL tone and just use the manual Squelch setting. See if you hear anything, give it a day or two.

If that does not work, set your scanner to do a search of the VHF (150 Mhz) range. They may have changed frequencies.

You could ask an Officer if they recently changed their radio channels. Another option would be to do a search of the FCC database for the four towns. You might find a new frequency that way.

Interesting that there is no callsign associated with 155.655. Years ago everything was on this freq. along with the SO. Seems everything is on different frequencies now. Who knows what and where now.

I looked in my logs and for some reason I had 155.655 turned on on 9/27/12 and got lots of hits. PL 131.8 was on. I have no idea or memory of who was on there.

FCC shows 154.89 and 155.37 as public safety frequencies for Mantua along with 155.655 ... maybe on one of these frequencies ... ?? All call sign KJJ269.

155.37 is intercity and they shouldn't use for dispatch. I monitor it and hear N. Royalton using it a lot.

I think I'd plug all those Portage County frequencies in and see what you get.

I monitor 155.655, pl #131.8 daily. I can assure you Mantua, G'ville, Hiram and Windham PD's use this freq as their main dispatch channel. At one time (mid 1980's), nearly every police agency in Portage County was on this freq. including the sheriff's dept. Things have changed since then.
On another note, the RR database is completely up to date. All of the listings are accurate.

Sorry for the delay in this post. Spent time out of town this past weekend. Ok, So here are the Freqs i have programed into my PSR-500.

156.210000, 155.655000,155.310000,151.385000,159.135000,154.100000,154.890000,155.805000,153.980000,
155.580000,460.362500,155.220000,151.107500, AM 27.185000,FM 156.800000,AM 27.165000.

As you can see I do have 155.65500 ( 131.8PL) in the unit. As per the listings for Portage Co. thats where they are said to be. But im 100% sure. As of last Friday Mantua PD (1000) uints are not on this freq. I was sitting next to one when he used his radio to do a check up with disbatch. And my scanner never made a peep. I tried asking hi what freq. they are on and got no answer. I'm wondering if there on a encrypted channel???

I have been receiving Mantua PD constantly and as recently as 5 minutes ago (per my live feed) on 155.655.
Mantua PD does sometimes use their service dept frequency to communicate with their dispatch when they have lenghty or sensitive radio traffic. That frequency is 155.385.

Hmmmm. That's also LifeFlight's business frequency with PL 203.5 of course. Used quite a bit when MARCS TG doesnt work (quite a bt).

Ok, funny thing is today i also clicked on the live feed on my smart phone. And found Mantua (1000) units on there. I assume using 155.65500. But when I tune into that on the scanner its dead quite. So maybe they are using 155.83500. But wouldn't you hear something from the other depts using 155.65500. Like Hiram, Windam,Garrettsville????

Its got my puzzled......

I logged 4 hits between 0937 and 0945 on 155.655 but wasn't listening so I don't know who it was. Nothing since.

If you live in Mantua, you should hear plenty of traffic on 155.655 from the agencies you listed.
What type of scanner are you using?
Maybe you have the receive mode wrong? (should be set for FM).

Im using the GRE PSR-500. And I'm getting hits on 155.655. But not anything but the Portage Co SO. Nothing from depts. 700,800,900,1000. Now if i go over to the live feed on here or no my smart phone.Ii can find at least a few calls from 1000 ( mantua). But not much from any of the others. And i know G-ville has at least 2-3 units on the road on a daily cycle. So something tells me that Im missing something some where.

POF I would say something is off in your programming.
I have a PSR 500 that I programmed with all of Portage Co. including MARCS, fire, police etc.
I live in Kent so if you wanted to come down my way I could clone my scanner to yours and you would be sure its set up right.

I have 155.655 (131.8) on my FD portable (HT 1250). I was able to hear Mantua PD get dispatched to an incident.

This frequency isn't all too active as it only serves the villages of Garrettsville, Hiram & Mantua. (PCSO covers the Townships) but this is still their primary channel.

I'm not sure why you are not receiving them.

Don't forget Windham (aka: "The Ghetto in the Cornfield") P.D. uses this freq as well.
They are a fairly busy agency but their radio signals seem much weaker than Mantua and the others.
