Boston Heights Fire Dept will cease operation Oct 1, Valley Fire District takes over for Fire & EMS services for Boston Heights Village.

Valley Fire operates on the Summit / Akron 800 MHz radio system

.Boston Heights ends volunteer fire department, contracts with Valley Fire - News - Ohio

Boston Heights Fire is a mostly volunteer department non-medic EMS agency that is supplemented by Macedonia FD. What isn't clear in this article is if the relationship with Macedonia for EMS comes to an end as a result of this or not.

Currently, Boston Heights FD is toned out on the same UHF frequency as MFD: 423.95

Valley Fire takes over all Fire / EMS for Boston Heights.
Dispatched by Richfield on Summit 800.
Macedonia will not be involved except any mutual aid agreements with Valley.

That'll be interesting. Because today Macedonia PD dispatches everything in simulcast. A tone out for the FD/EMS goes out across 423.95 (FD) as well as the shared PD 432.625, so the PD responds to the incident.

Now Boston Heights PD and FD/EMS will be dispatched by two different dispatchers who are not neccesarily in radio contact with each other. To keep PD dispatch where it is and maintain that notification all the PD units would have to get an 800 Mhz radio.

It'll be a real shame if Boston Heights PD goes to a 800 system of their own and moves their dispatch to a different location because they'll become somewhat isolated from the SR8 corridor.

If they stay as-is, then any time the PD or the FD/EMS want to tell each other something through dispatch there will literally be a phone call between two dispatchers.

Today if something is happening on SR8 between Hudson and Oakwood Village that entire stretch of highway is covered by PD using the same UHF frequency. So if BH can't "get" to something moving northbound (Drunk, hit skip, etc) all of the Macedonia units hear that and can react or wait up on 271 NB with enough notice.

Updated... Sounds like Boston Heights PD is in fact moving their dispatch off 432.625 and leaving MPD.
