The TRX-1 should automatically decode P25 audio (CAI). If you programmed your TRX-1 using the Whistler software check the DMODE setting for the frequencies in question. Typically the default "AUTO" setting should work.

To manually change the setting, click on the frequencies DMODE setting. Each mouse click will change the setting. There are three choices, Auto, Digital and Analog.

Well I have searched the FCC Database and there has been some license mods done but still the same frequencies. I know that Cleveland Communications got the contract for the new system and they sell Harris radios and I am guessing are on P25 II ?

I will check tonight but I thought my 996xt was picking it up which does not do P25 II

I know the TRX-2 was loud and clear but very little traffic

Speaking of the modifications in the license I did see what looked like analog traffic on 155.9550 but did not catch it.

That is because they are conventional and not trunk frequencies.
It is just P-25. No Phase I or II. I used to have a Pro-96 that received P-25 conventional without a problem. Any scanner from that era forward, will do the same, as long as it receives P-25 digital.

Pretty sure the .1900 is just a temporary move until the dispatch console is rebuilt with the new system

The jail freq has not had any traffic as long as I can remember.

I do not see why they would go through the trouble of setting up the digital console to use .1900 and then switch. They have been using .1900 for the last few days as digital.

They do have .9950 which has not been approved as a mod to the license so it is possible down the road they switch?

I'm new to this whole scanner thing, and I don't know the proper scanner lingo. So I apoloize in advance. I have a quick question, and I'm hoping someone can help. I have an old uniden scanner that I used to be able to hear EPD. I can't get them anymore on the uniden scanner. I recently read that they switched to digital so I bought a Whistler WS1065 digital scanner. I can't find any Lorain County police stations using the WIN500 software. So now I am at a complete loss. Any help would be so much appreciated. Thank you

Per the previous posts, Elyria PD is in the process of transitioning from Analog VHF to the MARCS-IP P25 system. I suggest that you use Win500 to create two Scan Lists.

One for the two VHF conventional freqs that Chronic posted. Leave the MOD setting at Auto and the Squelch setting at Search.

For the second download the MARCS-IP Elyria site from RR, including it's current Talk Groups. Once the MARCS-IP P25 Elyria site Scan List is setup, add the Talk Group Wild Card and Private Wild Card. The Wild Cards will allow you to hear all of the currently undocumented Talk Groups being used for testing.

Last but not least, keep an eye on the Ohio Forum to keep abreast of any changes or updates others report.

Hope this helps.
