TPD Radios going down

TPD's system is going down and they just announced their backup plan if they lose it completely — everyone is to go to the nearest fire station to call Master Console to let them know where they are. That sounds like a pretty crappy plan in the age of cell phones.

I didn't hear any of that, but I am getting mixed mode on the main dispatch channels with some traffic being encrypted, either on the dispatch traffic or the officer traffic but not both.

agreed, why not just have them use their cellphones to call Master Console or even better their mainside dispatcher directly? wonder which PSC Stupidvisor had this bright idea?

The only logic I can apply here is that it may be easier for the Console operator if two officers arrive at the station simultaneously they can only make one call. Other than that I have no idea why this is the plan.
