Has anyone been successful programming a BCT996XT for the OKWIN OKC and any other sites that need the custom band plan created? The owners manual is worthless, no help at all.

Regarding Vinita, can I add another line to the custom table I already have for OKWIN to cover Vinita or will that not work. I think someone once told me you cod and that that particular line had to be inserted in a certain place in order for it to "decode" in the correct order

The major obstacle in creating a single table that works on everything, is that OKWIN is using three band plans. One for logical channel numbers (LCN) 0 through 439. A second plan for LCNs 440 through 559.
These two band plans play well together because there are no overlapping LCN's between the plans.
(LCN's 560-719 are unused)

The shuffle plan used on Vinita makes use of LCN's 320 through 559, which overlap the first two band plans. In addition, the frequencies step lower as the LCN goes higher. Spacing/Step size is also different.

I've written a couple custom tables based on Walt725's research. The tables work by pulling specific LCN's used on Vinita out of the normal band plans, and re-mapping them to specific frequencies. (Lines 1-3).
Line 4 of the tables below are a sub-set of Walt725's band plan and deal with LCN's 433-436. Make sure polarity is set for negative on this line only.
Lines 5 and 6 are the standard tables used for everything other than Vinita.

All lines must be entered, and entered in the order in which they appear.

Consider these tables experimental until someone can confirm they work.
Before making any changes, write down your existing settings.

  6 851.01250 868.98750 POS 0 25.00

Code:

  2 382 382 382 853.22500 12.50
  3 516 516 516 851.55000 12.50
  4 433 436 436 852.55000 12.50
  5 440 559 440 851.02500 25.00
  6 0 719 0 851.01250 25.00

It's possible that the second table might work for older Radio Shack models, however frequencies 852.55 and 852.5875 on Vinita may or may not work.

First, thanks. Second, wow! Third, how ... how do you know how to do this?

Before the post below yours I had just set-up two different Vinta Sites (one normal rebanding and the other with the Walt7XX plan) now I will have to give that new info a try. Trouble is I don't go by that site often enough to tell what works and when I do I'm in/out of the area in about 20 or so min.

After many silent treks ( in Vinta) up I-44, I am happy to report that the info listed above worked for me on my 996P2 by entering the entire bandplan listed for Uniden for the Vinta site. My question is should this bandplan be entered for each OKWIN site other than Vinta? I had entered the Walt fix and it never really worked for me, and I don't get up that way very often other than to go through as I'm leaving the state and not really have time to make adjustments until yesterdays trip and as soon as I entered the list above the scanner came to life on the Vinta site.

I strongly suspect that this information is very out of date, but this is what we have in our wiki...

Programming Your Scanner for OKWin - the RR Wiki

If you wish to use this article as a place to store your tables while this is being investigated, please feel free. Hopefully once the tables have been solidified, that they could be placed here and a link added to the database for future ref.

When I wrote that table 3 years ago, my goal was to provide one table that would work statewide without the need to make a special (exception) entry for the Vinita site.
In order for this to work though, you need to enter the table in it's entirety.

Until your post, I never really got any feedback as to whether it worked or not. I would suggest trying it on other sites and report back your findings.

As said I rarely get in the area and when I do it's just in passing as I leave/enter the state. I finally had to spend time in the area and took my laptop with. As I came into the area I received nothing and Troop L was very active before I got the Vinta site. After I entered the table for Uniden and uploaded it to the scanner it was alive again.

Love comments from people across the country saying that it won't work but it does. Thanks.
