Interesting…do you know if this the output freq. of a repeater? If so check 158.640 as the input. The freq. you gave is the “base” part of a pair of frequencies listed in one of my old reference guides as “mobile telephone-radio common carrier” (I need help on this one, is this pre-cellular, mobile phones or something else?). This group of frequencies seems to be channelized and this particular pair is listed as channel 11 .

I don’t think you will find much in the way of official documentation since this is an “unofficial” use of these frequencies (Although the FCC may have recently opened these up for public safety use, I haven‘t heard one way or the other). One of the jurisdictions here in Adair county is doing the same thing with the 152.060/158.520 pair. Here are the frequencies listed in this group, base frequencies listed first followed by mobiles .

Ch1 152.030 158.490
Ch3 152.060 158.520
Ch5 152.090 158.550
Ch7 152.120 158.580
Ch9 152.150 158.610
Ch11 152.180 158.640
Ch13 152.210 158.670

Anyone know of the missing channel numbers? I couldn’t find any reference to them.

Yeah, these are the old mobile phones that were sold/leased by the Bell companies in the Seventies and Eighties. Made for some interesting listening!

yes it is the output side

YES, it is the output side of the repeater. a.k.a. receive side.
Next time I am in Norman or Newcastle I will try to find the other side.

It fooled me too, because I was not expecting them this low in the band.
And I have not yet checked FCC Database, but i do not think, they have a license. But yet niether did Glenpool P.D.- When i lived in Tulsa, and before Glenpool went EDACS, they were in the same freq., range.

You also might notice that the Newcastle P.D., repeater is very good.

did i miss something?

why did you say they were "hiding"?

i seriously doubt they were trying to keep you from listening to them - they have to file with the FCC if they intend on using a radio transmitter...

BECAUSE..............

WELL...............

I found them on accident. They do have a license listed with FCC, BUT ARE NOT USING IT.

And I was not expecting them this low in the band. I would have thought they would be up in the police band area.

THEY WERE ATTEMPTING TO HIDE.

OOPS, FOUND YA!!!

When a message is posted in a state forum, you can figure that the town referred to is in that state. Why would somebody post a message about New Castle, NY in the Oklahoma forum? :?

By the same token, if I post a message about Stillwater in the Oklahoma forum, I wouldn't expect people to think I was talking about Stillwater, MN.

FYI: Newcastle, Oklahoma, with a population of 4,200, is about 5 miles south of Oklahoma City.
