After recently being in Ottawa for a day I had a chance to listen to a couple of DMR systems, I definitely found that the PushPlus and the GOTRBO networks are quite busy with lots of activity.

Below is a list of unknown active talkgroups on both of these systems if anyone is interested or capable of listening to them. I put the other systems listed here also https://www.radioreference.com/apps/db/?ctid=4311&ts=1#countyTrs but didn't hear anything on them. I know I could've put these into the wiki but I don't often venture over there to edit anything.

Also found some active DMR activity on one of the local ham frequencies. I'll add this to the database.

444.125000 VE3 TST - Ottawa DMR Colour Code 13
Anything I've found both on RR and Google says it has a PL tone of CTCSS: 136.5 Hz but I didn't see the tone being shown, it's definitely DMR. Perhaps it has changed I don't follow the ham repeaters in Ottawa much.

Monitoring this site on friday for less than 1/2 hour my TG list is similar, a few less but can add:

11000012
11010030
11010032

On the subject of IDing specific users, I tried this on commercial Moto Type I and II and LTR systems about a decade ago. Using SCANREC I'd record a day's activity on one TG and listen later in time-compressed mode. Besides losing the time element, identifying users was a lot of work, and with low success rate. You'd be surprised how few clues some users give out, that would positively identify them. Parked on one TG ties up a scanner, good to have another of given capability to allow regular listening.

These days unless it's particularly interesting, I don't spend much time on this.

Most of the scanning community doesn't seem interested in this activity; finding it or listening to it. Best we can hope for is to identify user types, such as delivery service, or concrete pouring, or ...

For sure it can be quite mundane. Luckily for me out my way it's not quite as busy. Furthest tower I get so far towards the city is the Pakenham tower on GoTrbo but that's it. Up the valley it's not quite as busy so I don't have problems with the ups on the systems. Still hard to get a positive ID as you say. I've got construction crews and delivery but that's about all I figured out.

Construction Crew , Delivery are valid identifiers for database publication. Bonus if we can get a proper name.

It's a minimum, but a good start. I can't put TG 10000000 without explanation in.

I put a feature request in to the DSDplus creators to see if there can be a multi-tuner feature to record all system activity to audio files, split per talkgroup, since a DVB stick covers a few MHz, Airspy will do 10. Because when I travel, I value my time more than sitting at my laptop staring at the screen - I would love to let the laptop sit in the hotel room and log for the day.

"Scanning community" these days are leechers off their phones, who expect much but put zero effort into actually learning how.

Someone with some time might listen to GOTRBO Site 2 (Camp Fortune). Sunday, I heard something about a black bear spotted, and closing either a trail or ski run (forgot the name). This could be the NCC; or ski ops at Camp Fortune, for which nobody seems to know where they got to after the 159.975 repeater operation stopped several years ago.

TGs are 11000037 and 11000038, possibly others related.

Dave H RE ski ops

Last winter I logged ski ops on this frequency: 152.225 Tone 100.0

I have not listened to it yet to see if it is still active.

Ski ops yes, but at Mont Sainte-Marie a good distance from here. According to IC, it's a 4W repeater. Still hoping to find the Camp Fortune operations.

Somewhat off the main topic: NCC uses 162.780, 163.260, and 164.430 repeaters, plus 164.730 simplex I believe, in Gatineau Park and Ottawa. They're still licensed to 410.2625 and 410.4875, used long ago when NCC did road operations, before that was contracted out. Another channel 410.3625 (if memory serves) simplex was used, may be gone, does not show up as licensed.

NCC uses UHF DMR for events including Canada Day and Winterlude. Likely the radios are rentals. That's why I wonder if what I heard the other day was NCC.

Not sure which system this is part of but I've been able to see 462.825 has a Colour code of 12 which tells me that it may actually be part of the GOTRBO network only cause I've seen other Colour code 12's on this system before, if anyone wants to try to pinpoint which site this is actually from.

That frequency shows as a low-power site channel in many locations. I've seen CC12 other
places so nothing unique about it.
