Sunday morning I heard an old-style IMTS marker tone on 152.645. This is pre-analog-cellular mobile phone.

No idea where it was from, propagation was quite good. It had a CW ID, didn't catch it otherwise could have nailed it.

Last of these I've heard recently (but going on 2 decades ago) was in the Parry Sound/Britt area, VHF 152MHz and UHF 454MHz.

Around North Bay I'd found some 153MHz channels which I thought were non Bell systems, using the same offset +5.26MHz, presumably same equipment; not sure if these are still in operation, but see some listings primarily in the north which suggest they might be.

Mike, noticed that as well, could be that, difficult to confirm unless someone within ground-wave coverage could check; which we don't seem to have at the moment.

On the other topic on 153MHz RTP channels, found this, don't know its status. Nine pairs with 5.26MHz spacing. Also well out of our normal coverage.

There's a RENIR voice channel regularly on there also. Frequency is also licensed a number of places in Ontario but mostly outside what I would normally hear under enhanced conditions.
