Fort Erie Fire Department has given notice to St Catharines Dispatch services that they will not sign another contract with them and will be looking for an new dispatch center for there fire calls, St Catharines wanted Fort Erie to go onto there new Digital system where Niagara Falls fire and St Catharines are and the Niagara Regional Police. Fort Erie said it would cost them for new radios and pagers almost 1.2 million dollars. Fort Erie has spent a lot of money on there Fire Radio system and made a lot of changes to upgrade it and it is not in Fort Erie's best interest to move over to the new system. It seems St Catharines is being very aggressive trying to get people to move on to there new system.

Guess they need people to help pay for it
Maybe they will start letting the farmers, rentals and other random users on the "public safety" system like thames communication does in chatham-kent.
Police-Fire-Public works are on it plus a hand full of random customers

Here and there
Public works and fire police ems tend to always be on same systems being a government body and same equipment is used.

I don't know where the "land of entrapment" is, but in the Regional Government era in southern Ontario (the cities of Toronto and Ottawa being the major exclusions) that statement couldn't be further from the truth. There are police departments on P25 systems in the same areas as the local fire department is on DMR, EMS on the provincial system and public works still on analog repeaters. All because a different level of Government controls (read: pays for) each service. The proverbial "dog's breakfast".
