I have a brand new BCD536HP which I can not even program. It is me...not the radio. The owner's manual may as well have been written in Arabic. I have been a long-time (about 40 years) Uniden customer and feel like they do not give a damn about novice users like me. Their technical support has been zero help.

I am an educated man but do not have the technical background to understand the manual. A couple of RR members have tried to help me via IM's, thank you guys, but I need face-to-face, hands on instruction. You-tube videos are not the answer either.

Is there anyone out there in the Oregon forum (I reside in Douglas County) who would be willing to sit with me long enough to at least teach me the absolute basics, such as how to program favorites lists? I will travel anywhere to solve my problem.

Many thanks.

Not a great teacher

A source that I have always found very helpful is:

Easier to Read BCD436/536HP Digital Scanner Manual

The biggest learning curve I've had is the extra layer being the Scan List.
I'm still learning this myself, but the way I understand the selections appear like this:

Favorite List
|
System
| |
Sites Departments

And of course there can be multiple of that tree, but hopefully some of this information helps. The Marks scanners link always has lots of great info.

I'm up north but am traveling to Ashland towards the end of next week, I'd be happy to try and help if you'd like as I work my way south.

Thank you Joe

If you have already received this message, please excuse my lack of expertise with messaging

I am sincerely grateful for your kind offer to help me. I am at my wits end trying to understand this radio. I am retired and am available to meet with you at any time and any place. I live about a 1/2 mile off of I-5 exit 103, just south of Myrtle Creek. Plenty of room here to get the job done, or if you prefer we can meet at a restaurant. In either case, my wife and I want to take you for lunch, dinner or whatever to show our gratitude. There is a very good buffet about 3 miles from here (Seven Feathers Casino). Also a good Mexican food restaurant in MC.

I look forward to meeting you and finally being able to play with my new toy. This radio promises so very much and I can't wait to get it up and running.

Regards,
Jack

I would be willing to help get you started via Teamviewer. If you can install Teamviewer - I can log into your computer and help you get setup ...we can talk on the phone as we do it - I think once you see a few little nuances - you will then be able to set up your own scanner easily.

TeamViewer - Free Remote Control, Remote Access & Online Meetings

Send me a PM once you get this installed ....
