Two nights ago I was doing one of my usual VHF searches and came across a frequency that is not listed in the DB (at least not with this DPL) -- 156.1875 with 343 DPL.

There was not enough traffic on it for me to really pick out who it was. What I did catch was "518 returning to station".

Upon doing an FCC search, there is an FCC license WQNX406 licensed to Venango Co which indicates "County 911 Center. Dispatch of Remote Volunteer Fire Departments". This license lists 156.1875 as a repeater output with 151.325 as the input.

Just wondering if somebody in/around Venango can plug this frequency in and monitor it for any activity over the next few weeks.

When I heard traffic on it, I thought I heard them say "518 returning to station". It definitely was either Fire or EMS related.

If you do plug this frequency in and you do confirm that it is Venango Co Fire, please submit your findings to the DB so the appropriate DB admin can add it for the benefit of all.

If you do confirm 156.1875 as being active in Venango Co but you are picking it up with a different DPL/PL tone, please post here. That would mean I was hearing some other place.

Thanks

Mike

It is a Venango Co Fire and/or EMS freq. Just heard them dispatch somebody to rendevous with Community Ambulance or some ambulance service at an address on Hill City Rd.

I'll add this as another dispatch channel for now. But we definitely need more info. Only two transmitter sites makes this look like a regional dispatch channel. Are dispatches still going out on the old 154.415 already listed in the DB? I'm just a bit too far away to monitor being on the other side of the state. ;-)

Thanks,

Yes, I am still hearing dispatches. But Venango is a long way from me so it's not always easy for me to pick out what is being said. Definitely the 154.415 PL 127.3 is still active. The traffic I was hearing on 156.1875 was not being heard on 154.415, and the traffic I heard on 154.415 pl127.3 was not being heard on 156.1875.

If what i heard the other day actually was a unit '518', I suppose that could make it a Cooperstown unit [based upon wiki info]. The Cooperstown unit is not the unit that was sent to meet up at Hill City Rd today though. That was some other [unknown] unit. . Not sure where Cooperstown is geographically, but we might assume that at least a Cooperstown fire or ems unit is dispatched or has operations on 156.1875.

The 154.415 freq is still being used. The 154.385 (127.3) which I used to hear dispatchs on is very quiet the last few days. I have entered the 156.1875 into my scanner but this afternoon I have not heard anything on it.

156.1875 dpl 343 : that is the "new" Buttermilk Hill repeater. Stations toward the NW of the county are toned & respond on that channel. Almost all stations in the county are dispatched off of all 4 repeaters at the same time. they are the ECC Rptr 154.415 t123.7, Pointhill 154.385 t103.5, & Scrubgrass 154.235 t141.3. we also have 3 new TAC channels to replace the 2 lost to the repeaters as well as a new 1 and an LZ channel. TAC 1 is 155.08500, TAC 3 is 155.14500, TAC 4 is 155.41500 and LZ is 158.85000
