Any idea if this is simplex or repeated? Do you ever get them non-encrypted?

I haven't heard anything in the clear. And it is simplex; there is no repeater hang-time.

Where is the scanner that plays SFPD ? cant believe a city that big doesn't have a scanner ..

DHS appeared to be using FRS radios....not making this up. Im not going to post the channel I saw on the screen.

Older ones look a LOT like FRS and have channelized numbering.

New ones are spread-spectrum and encrypted.

During the parade I saw a bunch of patrol with what looked like old PIC radios (were they MT500's?). Did anybody else see them? The antenna was the giveaway ("long" UHF ones).

So did anybody listen to any of the old PIC frequencies. I heard they never gave them up, but the FCC DB says otherwise. They had expiration dates to 2011, but they are in "Canceled" status. They have a bunch of narrowband channels, but those old PIC radios were definitely not capable.

The old P.I.C. freq's are no longer used. The old low-band (45MHZ) radios are still used. SF's rebanding should be coming up pretty soon?

Maybe the system will actually work indoors with the rebanding...
