Today receiving one side of the transmission in the clear the other side encrypted. Nothing useful in identifying the users. However today the NAC is $389 So I'm not sure if I wrote the original NAC wrong or if they are using two different ones.

You might have caught both. Here in Boston we have a few Freq's that return multiple NACs when the Band is open.

Example
163.6250
$310 - BP in MA
$368 - BP in NH
$360 - BP in NH
$369 - BP in VT, ME
$370 - BP in VT, ME
$092 - BP in ME
$301 - CBP in ME
$400 - BP in ME
$499 - BP in ME
$500 - BP in ME

170.5375 nac f00

170.5375 NAC F00

Could this be the RNC in Tampa?

I went out to one of my sites near Bradenton, FL two times and kept getting solid S-5 hits on this freq. Every 2 minutes it belches data. Then I picked up encrypted talk. Then a few transmissions with half clear and half enc. Sounded a bit informal, and I couldn't get much out of it. This would be a time when the convention would be setting up (two weeks ago). As I drove back East on SR70 the signal was still pretty strong past Arcadia. This tells me it is not an image and it is up pretty high (Riverview tower?).

At this point I can drive around FL searching and get no new hits, so this is something very new. If activity pick up during the convention, I would bet it is the RNC, but I live on the East Coast, so I can't get it at home.

Oh...and many search passes came up with no other associated frequencies, so I do not think this is part of a trunked system. Anyone know of this NAC of F00 ???

Started hearing encrypted traffic on 171.4375 NAC 173, in Southwest PA. The frequency is listed as a federal interoperability frequency but the NAC is not listed anywhere. Anyone with any insight ?

Thanks in Advance

There are multiple Military units in the area, however I am not aware of any 173rd's. That doesn't mean there isn't any as some are located within a restricted area that the general public does not have access to. In the past several years some units have been relocated to other parts of the country and other units have come to town to replace those that have gone. So I guess it's possible. I'll stay tuned

It's only a thought, since it was a topic on another thread when certain Mil Units use their ### as their NAC :)

The other option [what Scanner model ??] is an image from the 150-159 portion of the band

It's a good thought, I've been following that thread also. For searching I'm using a 996XT, I feel certain it's not an image. I'll keep a close watch on it.

Thanks

171.7625 $791, always P-25 encrypted. Heard in east central Iowa. Immigration enforcement, maybe?

Looks like a pair to your previous find with the same NAC on 171.9625

I've seen users from DHS [TSA, DoA, ICE, SS] and Foreign Embasies [DC]

Anyone else with this NAC in Iowa??

How about 164.450 PL 151.4 simplex? Off and on in the Houston area, English and Spanish, sounds like truck drivers.

Was this the P25 $293 someone also reported back in Nov of Last year??

My Guess is more toward a USFS, BLM, BIA type agency. As I have not heard Juliet since the 80/90s of Analog Days

Two users come to mind. Chris-P might have more.

EPA. Does it sound Simplex or Repeater?

The other is likely USPS and since it's Truck Drivers, maybe from a Distribution & Sorting Facility, that sends the trucks out to the Local Post Offices ??

Then again, bootleggers or an image

It's definitely simplex (which is why I said it was simplex :D), it's not an image as different I.F. radios hear it, doesn't sound like USPS, it sounds like regular ole truckers...speaking Spanish and English. It's always just chit-chat type of stuff, mainly complaining about traffic.
