Is your program directory in a location that you have write access to? The desktop is usually a safe place to start testing from. Check in your program directory in the "audio" folder...are there any mp3 files in that folder? Is that folder set up as read only for some reason? This error message is usually due to not having permission to create the audio files in the /audio directory.

I am the builder of this pc and I am also set at the only user which is actually ADMIN account. I checked the file properties and the read only box is not checked but it is not empty. It is more like filled in with a square. I click it until it is empty and click apply and then recheck and it is filled in again. Tried checking the box and applying then unchecking. No dice. It is the audio folder that is filled in but I tried deleting that and making a new one with the same name and same results. filled in but not checked. any other ideas?

Is the program creating the mp3 files in that folder, or is it empty? Have you tried running from a folder on the desktop? Avoid putting it in program files...Windows 7 does some crazy things with write-protecting things in there and putting the data elsewhere when you try to write to a directory in program files.

Did I mention XP Pro? It does create a MP3 but then seems to delete it. Is it supposed to store that on a long term basis? It ends up empty eventually.

I just found this. The file it is trying to send is missing because it is creating a .wav file instead of MP3. I also notice that the files that it makes and the one it is trying to send are not the same name or format. Now what? Tried uninstall and reinstalling. Tried an older version too.

Do you have ffmpeg.exe in the program directory (not ffmpeg.zip)?

I double checked that it was the .exe file and it is. What about all the other files that part of the ffmpeg extraction? Do they need to go somewhere too? Attached is another picture of the screenshot of the file names being different. I also took the space out of the tone name just to see if that was it. It was not.

Version 56 works. .....Hmm, so does VER 60 without ffmpeg. Just sends as WAV file which works on the Iphone. I used the version that was in the instructions. VER 61 also sends as a WAV but at least works with out ffmpeg. Hope this helps troubleshoot the problem.

Something is wrong with ffmpeg download because first time I tried VER 56, it worked but said ffmpeg not found, sending as a wav file and it sent no problem. I put ffmpeg in the ver 56 folder and I get similar errors running VER 56 as I did on Ver 60 and VER 61.

TwoToneDetect on a Raspberry Pi

Hey,

I'm setting up TwoToneDetect on a Raspberry Pi, and so far things are moving along rather well. I know enough Linux to be dangerous, which is to say, not much.

What is the Linux equivalent of DOS's autoexec.bat file? I want the Pi to automatically load the TwoToneDetect application when it boots up, in the event that it shuts down due to power failure or whatever.

Also wondering if there's a tool to keep track of its IP address for remote SSH logins. I also run several amateur radio IRLP stations, and their software allows me to type in the station name, and have the IP address magically resolved.

cheers

Warren,

I took the liberty of posting some instructions in the TTD on a Raspberry Pi thread to keep all the Pi stuff together as much as possible.

Raspberry Pi, LevelMeter.pyc issues

Hi,

I'm having issues setting up TwoToneDetect on a Raspberry Pi. The LevelMeter.pyc app won't pickup any audio from the sound card. It generates a lot of error messages when it runs, but I don't know which ones are meaningful and which aren't When I run pavucontrol it picks up the audio, and the LevelMeter app does see the sound card as a device. It's a cheap driverless USB sound card. This form doesn't seem to want me to copy my errormessages, so you can find it at:

Atikokan Amateur Radio Club - Downloads

Thanks in advance.

Warren,

The long list of ALSA lib messages is normal. Try going into pavucontrol to the configuration tab and set the ALSA output to OFF. I don't know why but that seems to work for me.

Problem sending email.

I am having trouble getting the program to send the email. First it said ffmeg wasn't found, once I unzipped that it had the same thing as when you click "read me" under ffmeg, but failed to send the email. I'm not sure what the problem is and I have been working with it for a good 4hrs. Can anyone help?

Open the file log.txt in the twotonedetect folder. Scroll down through it to see ifyou can find any error messages to steer your troubleshooting. Post some of those error messages here and it will make giving aid much easier.

Check the Audio folder (subdirectory of TTD). Are .wav files making it there?

Take a look here also: http://forums.radioreference.com/1957737-post1583.html

I have ben running an older version of TTD for a long time and am now setting up a new computer with the latest TTD. Is there an easier way to convert all my tones and addresses from my old "tones.txt" file to the new "tones.cfg"? Manually typing it will take a long time. Thanks, Ed.

Oh wow, you are using a really old version. Unfortunately there's no conversion tool from the old format to the new format.
