Just wanted to share my experience with the G1 voice pagers.
I maintain our departments communication equipment. After numerous issues with Motorola's customer service and technical service the department decided we would never buy a Motorola pager again.
I bought 2 G1s in 2013 (I believe when they first came out) from Wolfe Communications in Kingston TN. Both shipped fast and price blew new moto5s out of the water. Also ordered programming doc.
(First the Pagers)
The 2 G1 2013 pagers we have, do not have the bumpers on top. They are working almost perfectly. I use mine as a test pager for the other county departments and mine has been reprogrammed probably 150+ times it has been flashed with the new versions of Firm ware 3 times. I said that to say this, I have had 2 issues with my G1 pager. One is that it will not tone out on our county wide weather tone of 553.9. I talked to Wolfe communication and they sent me a new firm ware version hoping that will correct the issue. And yes I have checked the tone and made sure its correct. I flashed the firmware on it today so hopefully it will work. The second has affected both of the 2 original pre bumper 2013 models. The volume knobs on both of them have lost resistance to the extent of being able to turn themselves off while getting in and out of a vehicle or chair. Wolfe communication was aware of the issue and sent me 2 o-rings to slip over the knobs which creates a significant amount of resistance and will no longer switch off accidentally.

(Now the Programming/dock review)
The dock is golden no problems whatsoever.
The software on the other hand is a bear to say the least. I was the first one in North East GA programming these pagers for mutipul departments. The software has changed greatly over the years. The first few version were terrible. I would call wolfe communication while very nice and helpful could not explain what some of the features did and why I was having issues with certain programming functions. Over the years Unication has continuously updated the software and it is in a usable format. I have since programmed / reprogrammed over 100 pagers and their are still a few features that I do not understand.
I have since purchased a total of 7 for our department and all have worked great. We have had few very minor problems. One pager has had its buttons ripped off by its owner who is a rancher, and we have had 1 clip to break. All in all I will say they have held up very very well. We are a rural city Vol Fire department using VHF (Motorola paging) for our pagers and 2 way communications. . All of our members are farmers except for me and 2 others. So the guys are very hard on the equipment.
I have heard of 3 stories where the G1s where subjected to extreme conditions. One was bailed up into a round bale of hay it is still MIA hoping to find it this winter while feeding cows. One was knocked out of a jeep into a mud puddle and sat in the rain/mud for 10+ hours while on, still on with no ill effects. Pager was washed in sink to make clean still no issues. lastly another pager was knocked off belt fell off of back porch on to ground where it laid in rain for 1 night and was still operating wit out issues next morning.
These are great pagers and highly recomind them. Look forward to seeing the multi band models and hope their price point can be similar to the current G1s.
