From what I was told the Voice Paging will continue till the Low Band System Dies.
Probably a dumb question. But I dug an old minitor 2 out of retirement and got it running on Adams dispatch channel. I have a set of tone reeds in it and it alerts for EMS. But for the Long fire tone, do I have to put two of the same reed in the pager?
Well that's mostly good. Now hopefully they can stockpile and eBay enough parts to keep that old system chugging along for another couple decades. Or at least until the alpha fad goes away in the surrounding counties and everyone is back on voice paging again as well.
Have new bcd436hp and still on wobbly learning curve with this particular unit. Really could use some help with Adams county and other input. Would be happy to assist with area compilations. Would also like to meet others with similar monitoring interests.I have been watching this system from day one utilizing three different
decoders operating on three different receivers and have compiled
a huge list of radio ID's and talk groups. Many are easily identified
and logged and upon positive identification have been submitted to
the database.
I have requested a list of talk groups several times from county
but have always been rejected since it's only available to those in
a need to know basis. Everyone there acts like the world will crash if
the list should leak out. To further complicate things, the dispatchers
do not always use the same label for a given talk group.
The list you posted is from a hand out provided to non encrypted
users so they have a idea who is on the system. No such list has
emerged for encrypted user radios and probably never will.
Almost all users on your list have never appeared on this system
to date and I can only assume they have not been provided radio's
yet. Many users are still using portables for communications and
still do not have any mobile units.
Some users appear on the system but seem to only have a limited
number of radio's. Gettysburg Boro which will probably require a fair
number of radio's for local government operation has only had two
units operating on parking enforcement and the DPW and others
are still operating on their normal VHF-L frequency.
If I decode 25 radios on the same talk group such as the prison, I
make the educated assumption that this is the “Prison Channel, and
I report it as such, but it's anyone's guess what the officials have
labeled it.
Many times multiple different radio ID'S appear on the same talk group but it's
very difficult to determine what the TG label should be. It appears
that many of these radio's have many or all the talk groups programmed
and they can be seen floating between various talk groups. When there
is a fire dispatch, multiple users can be observed flocking to the dispatch
talk group. I've seen ladder trucks on the hospital BLS talk group, and
others where you would never expect them to be.
I have tried to make a major effort to provide reliable information
for listeners regarding this new system but what you see is basically
what you get at this point in time. Why the very slow distribution of
equipment and users is unknown to me. This is a small county and has
few listeners who are in a position to contribute good information.
For me, it's been many hours logging and reviewing information
in hopes of completing the task. There is a very long list of talk groups
logged since the beginning, probably enough for each user to have one
for their own, but trying to determine the exact use and label for each
has become a major undertaking.
Perhaps it's time to pursue some of my other interests. I'm an old
retired guy who probably needs to direct efforts to other endeavors.
I have recorded 203 talk groups. Many have moderate activity and
others have had limited use. The info is in a database and can be sorted
by various categories. If you would like a copy, please leave me know
how you want it shuffled.. (Probably 15 pages long.)
Good luck
Just to be clear now and as of today, Adams County is now using the 800 P25 phase I or II. Also assume it is digital?
I recently talked to 3 different people using Uniden Scanners that the scanners are no longer receiving this P25 system. Up until about a month ago the scanners worked well, now nothing.
Anyone else experiencing issues. I loaded the programming from this site from day one and it worked until recently.
