Hello,
I have a Uniden BC246T scanner

What I'd like to do is use a mini adapter that plugs into the 3.5 jack and sends the output to a Bluetooth transmitter so that I can wear headphones and listen to the scanner without a corded headphone.

I thought this was going to do that but it seems now that it is not.....

How can I get the output from the 3.5 jack to a small bluetooth transmitter that I could pair with my bluetooth headphones?

Thanks

I'm not familiar with the device that you purchased, but I bought a previous model of this which does exactly what you are asking:

https://www.amazon.com/TaoTronics-Bluetooth-Transmitter-Receiver-Wireless/dp/B01IV1H1ME

I don't fully understand your question though:

"What I'd like to do is use a mini adapter that plugs into the 3.5 jack and sends the output to a Bluetooth transmitter so that I can wear headphones and listen to the scanner without a corded headphone."

In my case, I have bluetooth headphones and the TaoTronics device is a bluetooth transmitter and I pair it with the headphones. so when it is connected to the 3.5 jack of my scanner, the audio is redirected to the headphones.

You should be able to pair the transmitter that you bought on eBay with the headphones, connect it to the 3.5 jack of your radio and hear the audio with your headphones. What is the issue? Will the device not pair, or does it pair and do you still not get audio in your headphones?

I cannot get it to pair with the headphones. I CAN get it to pair with my cellphone...but that was just to make sure it was able to pair at all.

What you bought is definitely a TX and RX device. I'm thinking what I bought is only a receiver even though the description clearly says it's also a bluetooth transmitter.

That would mean I can only use it to feed a bluetooth signal to a passive device like speakers that have a 3.5 INPUT jack.

But not SEND a bluetooth signal from a device like my scanner to a bluetooth headset....I think

Mpow Bluetooth Receiver & Transmitter 2 in 1 Wireless Music Adapter Home/Car Lot https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https://www.ebay.com/ulk/itm/112688157601. This is what I use and have never had any problems. The eBay description of your product says it’s just a receiver.

Here is the item Title.....

"Bluetooth Wireless Audio Transmitter Receiver 3.5MM Jack Music 2 in1 Adapter BT8"

But you're correct. in the description it only says receiver

Deceiving
