To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Is it possible to program a TK 6110-2 35-50mhz radio to RX 33mhz ?

A single unit for 33mhz and 46mhz that would make life easier and I could just TX off the portable on scene.

Also is there a way to split the 32 channels into two banks, or no? I can't find anything on this, unless I am searching it wrong.

Thanks.

Have you tried it?

The software takes 33 no problem. It'll give you a warning but it'll accept it. I programmed it in my radio and it had no issue locking VCO.

It works fine in my radio and should do the same in yours. CHP routinely runs their TK-690s out of band.

It will work fine, there is a mod out there to have the high split unit work on both 10 and 6 meter ham bands so your 44/33 is no problem. Your RX should be just fine without any tuning. But if you need to tune, there is a jig for the BPF, Kenwood P/N W05-1000-00.

I don't believe the 6110 will allow multiple zones.

Good to know. Thanks.

I am looking at picking one up. I have never owned or programmed a Kenwood, so I am doing some homework before buying one. I hate needing two different units for 33mhz and 46mhz.

This is what I am trying to figure out as the second component. Two counties, I want to keep them separate. I live one town over from the county line, where 33mhz and 46mhz do not cross paths.

What do you mean?

I have one in my work van programmed for my customers and for CHP, it scans beautifully among the 32 channels in memory. It doesn't have multiple scan lists as you might be used to in a Motorola radio.

This is just a good-ole simple radio with minimum features.
